After the passing of three relatives recently, the Coyle family wanted to do something to honor their loved ones while being consistent with their Catholic values.
The newly established Coyle Family St. Ann School Scholarship Endowment Fund at the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania honors three members of their family: Patrick Coyle, Janet Coyle McDonald and Gerald Coyle.
The perfect option, they thought, was a scholarship fund for Catholic school students.
“I called my cousin Monsignor Edward Coyle [pastor of the Church of Saint Ann in Emmaus], and he said the best way was through the Catholic Foundation,” says Jen Byrne, Patrick Coyle’s daughter.
“By donating to an endowment fund,” Byrne said, “we can honor our relatives while continuing to have a positive impact for generations.”
Coyle Family Generosity Transforms Young Catholic Lives
Thanks to the generosity of the Coyle family, elementary school students whose families cannot afford the full tuition at St. Ann School will get financial assistance in perpetuity.
“Doing this was a way of transforming our loss into a positive action,” said Byrne, herself a product of Catholic education from elementary school through college. “Creating this fund really made us all feel better.”
