Monthly Reflection Series Summons To Forever

The Catholic Foundation welcomes Mark Quaranta, author of the beloved daily Summons, to lead readers deeper into the timeless truths of Catholicism—and into a life that leaves a lasting mark.

The Catholic Foundation is excited to announce a new feature to our monthly e-newsletter: Summons To Forever written by Mark Quaranta. Our readers may recognize Quaranta’s thoughtful and thought-filled writing style from his popular daily Summons that he delivers to people’s inboxes each morning and on his website ReadSummons.com. The one-to-two minute Summons messages offer spiritual encouragement and insight that readers can take with them throughout their day.

In Summons To Forever,  Quaranta summons our readers to explore the timeless truths of our Catholic faith, and intersects it with the lasting impact of generosity.  His inaugural writing for the monthly reflection series focuses on the legacy of love that Jesus shared with us on Holy Thursday.

About Mark Quaranta and the Monthly Reflection Series

Quaranta attended Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While there, he enjoyed a vibrant Catholic community. But after graduation, like many of his peers, he found himself becoming spiritually isolated.

“I noticed that many young Catholics were drifting away from the Faith,” he said.

Inspired in 2017, Quaranta began writing and sharing short, daily reflections to provide what would eventually be a spiritual “summons” at the start of each day.

Summons To Forever Mark Quaranta

“A profound faith and prayer life all comes back to being consistent,” Quaranta said. “I am often reminded of Mother Teresa’s words: ‘God doesn’t require us to succeed, He only requires that we try.’

“Amid the unpredictability and uncertainty of our lives, we do not need to be perfect,” he continued. “We only need to try each day and always take time for prayer and worship.”

A devoted husband, and father of four (soon to be five), much of Quaranta’s writing is shaped by his early-morning prayer routine, now accomplished before his children wake up. He is deeply influenced by Carmelite spirituality, the lives of the saints, and immersion in the Gospels, letting the Word guide his daily reflections.

The readership of his daily Summons has grown and is enjoyed by parishioners across the Diocese of Allentown and the country. Continuing this ministry helps him stay accountable for his own prayer consistency, and his mission is to make a difference, even for just one person.

“Someone once told me that the reflection I sent was exactly what they needed that day,” Quaranta said.  “I didn’t even know they were still reading the messages! That is what keeps me going.”

In addition to Summons, Mark launched another prayer-centered ministry: PrayOnPaper.com. This project offers beautifully designed journals to help Catholics develop consistent prayer habits, including tools for the Daily Examen, which is a prayerful reflection on the events of the day to detect God’s presence and discern His direction for us.

The Catholic Foundation is excited to share Summons To Forever with you each month and encourage you to enjoy Quaranta’s reflections and utilize them as an aid to help deepen your prayer life and your generosity to support the future of your favorite Catholic causes.
