The Catholic Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representing professionals in the financial investment, legal, charitable foundation, and Catholic communities. The Board is self-sustaining, electing new and replacing members as needed.

Paul Huck

PAUL HUCK, CHAIRMAN
Paul Huck is the current and founding board chairman of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. He is the retired Chief Financial Officer of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. where he worked for 34 years before retiring in 2013. Paul also serves as the chairman of the board of Sacred Heart Hospital and Healthcare System, the chairman of the board of the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation for the Diocese of Allentown, and is a member of the Diocese of Allentown Finance Council. He is a director and chairman of the audit committee for two NYSE traded companies, Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. and AdvanSix Inc. Paul is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and has an MBA from Cornell University. He and his wife, Patty are members of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Orefield.

Thomas Scalici

THOMAS J. SCALICI, CFP, CEBS, AIF, VICE CHAIRMAN
Thomas J. Scalici serves as the vice chairman of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Cornerstone Advisors Asset Management, Inc., a Lehigh Valley, PA, based financial services firm. Tom is the vice chairman of Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, a trustee for the Lay and Priest Pension Plan for the Diocese of Allentown, and chair of the St. John Vianney Regional School Board of Limited Jurisdiction. Tom is a graduate of Gettysburg College and has earned his life and health insurance licenses. He holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses, is a licensed General Securities Principal, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF). Tom and his wife Amy are members of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

Lina Barbieri | Catholic Foundation of Eastern PA

LINA BARBIERI, CFRE
Lina Barbieri serves as a board member of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. She was elected in April 2022 and serves on the Marketing & Development Committee.  Barbieri is the chief philanthropy officer at Miller-Keystone Blood Center where her primary responsibility is generating philanthropic giving to support the work of the region’s community blood center. Previously, she served as associate vice president of annual giving at DeSales University. Lina is a graduate of DeSales University and holds the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) accreditation. She currently serves as board president of Sync Recovery Foundation, an organization serving people in active recovery from substance use disorder.  Lina was named a Women of Influence in 2021 by Lehigh Valley Business. She and her family are members of St. Thomas More Parish, Allentown.

JAMES BOVA
Jim Bova serves as a board member of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. He was elected in July 2020 and is chairman of the Audit Committee.  Jim is a partner at Campbell, Rappold & Yurasits (CR&Y) Certified Public Accountants in Allentown.  His practice area includes Auditing and Tax Preparation for individuals, businesses and non-profits.  He is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Jim is active in the community and serves on the board of Promise Neighborhood of the Lehigh Valley, as a member of the DeSales University President’s Council and as a member of the Allentown Rotary Club.  He and his wife Maggi have four children and our members of St. Thomas More parish in Allentown, PA.

Tim Duckworth Jr. Catholic Foundation of Eastern PA

TIMOTHY J. DUCKWORTH, JR.
Tim Duckworth has served as a board member of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania since 2024. He is an attorney with the law firm Mosebach Funt Dayton & Duckworth PC in Bethlehem and focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, elder law, taxation, business law and succession planning. An active community volunteer, Tim has served on the boards of Bethlehem Catholic High School and Cay Galgon Life House, and he currently serves as treasurer of Catholic Charities, the Diocese of Allentown. In addition, Tim is president of the Estate Planning Council of the Lehigh Valley, coaches at Immaculate Conception School in Pen Argyl and volunteers his legal expertise with Wills for Heroes. In his personal time, Tim enjoys running, cycling, woodworking, and spending time with his wife, Melissa, and children Jane, Henry, and Miles. He is a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.

 MIKE GUMAN
Mike Guman serves as a board member for the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. His term started in January 2020 and he is a member of the Investment Committee. Mike is Vice President Senior Advisor Consultant for Invesco (formerly Oppenheimer Funds). He has more than 30 years of experience working with financial advisors in the global asset management industry.  Mike earned the designations of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA).  Prior to working in the financial investment industry, Mike was a running back for the Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League. He is a graduate of Penn State University.  Mike is active in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Allentown Central Catholic High School and as a volunteer for the Mercy School for Special Learning.  He and his wife Karen are members of St. Thomas More Parish. They are the parents of five adult children and the grandparents to nine grandchildren.

Stephanie Kobal

STEPHANIE KOBAL, Attorney, Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba
Stephanie Kobal is a shareholder in Fitzpatrick Lentz & Bubba’s Real Estate, Land Use & Development and Employment Law groups. Throughout her career, Stephanie has worked with organizations and employers of all types and sizes to solve their real estate and employment law challenges. Stephanie is a Trustee at Cedar Crest College, a
member of Commercial Real Estate Women Lehigh Valley (CREW), and a member of the Board of the Parkland Education Foundation. Stephanie earned B.S. degrees in marketing and women’s studies from the Pennsylvania State University and her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law. Stephanie was named a Woman of Influence in 2017, a Forty Under 40 in 2018, and one of the “Power 30 in Law” in 2021. Stephanie is a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena, Allentown.

Msgr. John B. McCann Catholic Foundation of Eastern PA

MONSIGNOR JOHN B. MCCANN
The Reverend Monsignor John B. McCann has been pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Douglassville, Pennsylvania, since 2002. He has been a board member of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania since 2024. Msgr. McCann studied for the priesthood at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia and the Pontifical Roman Seminary and the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome, Italy, where he earned a licentiate in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Msgr. McCann served various assignments with the Catholic Social Agency (CSA, now known as Catholic Charities) before being appointed executive director of the Catholic Social Agency of the Diocese of Allentown in 1994. In addition to his leadership role at the Catholic Social Agency, Msgr. McCann has also served as a member and moderator of the Social Welfare Department of the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference and secretary for Clergy and Chancellor of the Diocese of Allentown. In June 2002, Msgr. McCann was named pastor of the parish Churches of Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Sacred Heart, Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania. Msgr. McCann has also been active in a variety of community-based organizations, serving as both a board member and officer of various governing and advisory boards, including Sacred Heart Hospital and Healthcare System, Allentown, (now an affiliate of St. Luke’s University Health Network) and Berks County Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board.

RUSTY SEYLE
Rusty Seyle serves as a board member of the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania. He was elected in April 2019 and serves on the Investment Committee. Rusty is the Managing Director / Sr. Vice President, Investments for Seyle Hickey Wealth Management of Raymond James based in the Lehigh Valley. He has more than 25 years of experience as a wealth management advisor working with high-net-worth individuals and families. He also assists businesses with group retirement plans, cash management, short-and-long-term financing and succession planning. Rusty holds the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS) designation. Rusty is active in the community and currently serves on the board for St. Michael the Archangel School in Bethlehem. Rusty is a graduate of Clemson University where he also played varsity football. He and his wife Stacy have three children. They are members of Assumption B.V.M. Parish in Bethlehem.
